A Sapphire will hold (through being true) the death and decay of black away, and also follows directionally through the channel of Sapphire (audio out) to Jet (listener). With the energy going from a Sapphire through a Jet, when the voice is mixed in through the mind of a Jet, the Pearl (thought/intuition) takes the Sapphire through to the contialis for other Pearls to perceive the thought.
Mixing in a bit of Final Fantasy, Espers were creatures that contained magical energy. An Obelisk of Esper (in M:TG) can produced one point of blue (tears or water), one point of white (a sun), or one point of black (a skull).
